On May 3, The Niagara-on-the-Lake Local published a feature piece on the positive student-neighbour relations in Niagara-on-the-Green.
Residents and members of the Glendale Task Force and the Town and Gown Committee commented that there have been improvements made and a better understanding between students and residents.
NC’s Stephen Kosh, executive director of NCSAC, Lianne Gagnon, director of Student Services, and former NCSAC president Ryan Huckla are pictured, distributing Good Neighbour guides to homes in Niagara-on-the-Green and participating in the clean-up.The guide is produced by Niagara College for each of the Welland NOTL Campuses, and encourages students living off-campus to be good neighbors, respect others’ rights to enjoy their property, keep their yards neat, keep noise to a minimum, party responsibility, and engage in a positive way with neighbours.
Gangon also mentions the College’s RentSmart program, offered for free to renters and landlords alike. In the program, student renters learn how to be responsible tenants, and landlords understand their role.
