CBC News Ottawa reported NC’s new partnership with Dominion City Brewing in Ottawa who are supporting an annual scholarship for a student in the Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program.

Josh McJannett, co-owner of Dominion City Brewing, explains that the scholarship supports diversity in the industry and will be awarded to a student from a background which is underrepresented in the industry. The winning student will also be offered a post-grad internship with Dominion City Brewing.

Ren Navarro, the creator of advocacy group Beer Diversity, explains that the industry needs more women and people from different ethnics backgrounds, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community. This scholarship can help to support this.

CBC News describes NC’s two-year Brewmaster program as the only Ontario school to offer a certified craft brewing diploma.
