The Welland Tribune and their affiliate news agencies, The St. Catharines Standard and The Niagara Falls Review, covered the Second Wind Dreams program driven by NC’s Recreation Therapy student, Lana Reid, who helped make a dream come true for Carl Johnson, a resident of Meadows of Dorchester in Niagara Falls.
Second Wind Dreams is a program through which residents in long-term and hospice care have a dream experience fulfilled.
Johnson was treated to a limo ride to the casino for dinner and gambling, followed by the Gordon Lightfoot concert in St. Catharines. Johnson, a lover of music and an avid guitar player prior to encountering physical challenges, was elated for the opportunity. As part of Reid’s placement at the long-term care residence in which Johnson resides, she got to know him, discovered his dream, fundraised and coordinated the big day in April.
