Six alumni from the NC’s Public Relations graduate certificate program returned to the Welland Campus to speak with students at the PR graduate panel on March 29.

The panel is an opportunity for the graduating students in the program to hear the professional insights and experiences of industry professionals and former NC students.

On this year’s panel were Dave Mammoliti, acting director, DeGroote School of Business – Executive Programs (Class of 2008); Rachel Dedinsky, digital media officer, Niagara College (Class of 2018); Riley McGilvray, account executive, Creative Guild (Class of 2015); Ray McIlroy, account director, Golin (Class of 2008); Graeme Collins, marketing and communications specialist, Financial Horizons Group (Class of 2017); Mackenzie Fowler, digital communications coordinator, Ridley College (Class of 2015).

This annual event, which falls on the last day of the academic school year for the PR students is a day full of inspiration as the grads, many of whom once sat as students in past grad panels, share advice and insights with the graduating class of PR Certificate students. The format involves round table discussion in small groups followed by a large panel discussion involving all the students and grads. The panel closed with an awards presentation.

The timing is key as it is a positive way to wrap up the school year and as students start placements on Monday; four full weeks in the month of April. It also provides advice and tips on how to make the most of their internships and launch their careers.

“It is so rewarding and wonderful to have a panel of our amazing NC PR grads visit the graduating class each year to share insights, advice and inspiration as they prepare to launch their careers as they begin their four week internship placements,” said Emily McInerney, PR program coordinator and professor.  “We are so lucky to have a large community of engaged and supportive grads who lend their time and graciously share their key learnings, and words of wisdom, with the PR students.”
