This coming May, Niagara will host the national conference of Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), a national association that represents the interests of colleges and other educational institutions to industry and government on a national level.

The conference, coming to the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls May 5-7, will bring together nearly a thousand educational leaders from across the country to learn from each other, discuss shared objectives, and highlight success.

This year’s conference’s theme is ‘Inclusion – a Recipe for Success,’ and is set to spark important discussions about the future of higher education in Canada. Keynote speakers include civil rights activist and founder of the #=MeToo movement Tarana Burke, celebrity chef and entrepreneur Vikram Vij, and performance expert Wayne Lee. Sessions will also feature Niagara College’s director of International Sean Coote and director of Academic Excellence Mary Wilson. A full conference schedule is available online.

“This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Niagara College’s unique formula of experiential learning to hundreds of the most influential educational leaders in the country.” said College president Dan Patterson. Throughout the conference, participants will be able to experience some of the pioneering programs and cutting-edge applied research projects that have made NC a leader in Canada’s post-secondary space.

The conference will also allow participants to experience Niagara’s vibrant and diverse economy, from its vibrant wine and tourism industries, to the innovation of Niagara’s small and medium-sized enterprises in advanced manufacturing and other sectors, to the unique experiential learning Niagara College provides that serves the workforce needs of those enterprises.

“We’re excited to have a chance to show off Niagara’s best,” said Patterson.
