Crucial Conversations: Feb. 26-27
Held at the Welland Campus February 26 and 27, Crucial Conversations teaches skills for communicating when the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. In this interactive two-day workshop, participants will engage in extensive in-class practice, group participation, and personal reflection.
Three questions with facilitator Nancy Dillon:
Q: Who do you think will benefit most from this session?
A: Everyone! We all find ourselves stuck at some point in our lives and that is usually because we are not holding a conversation, or we are not holding it well because we lack the skills.
Q: Why do you think this session is especially relevant to staff in today’s workplace?
A: A study of more than 600 people found that a shocking eight per cent of employees estimate their avoidance costs their organization more than $10,000. And one in 20 estimates that over the course of a drawn-out silent conflict, they waste time ruminating about the problem for more than six months.
Q: What’s the one thing you hope people take away from this session?
A: To know when a conversation becomes crucial and how to maintain respect and safety.
