Students at the NOTL campus on January 9 and 10 were greeted with a uniquely Canadian start to the Winter semester as NCSAC transformed the Courtyard into a skating rink reminiscent of the iconic Rink at Rockefeller Centre in New York City.
Free skating, fresh hot chocolate and soup from Benchmark Restaurant, music, glow-swings and more made for two unforgettable evenings. Free skate rentals were available, and guides were on-hand to introduce the art of skating to those who had never experienced it – this year’s event was the first time many of NC’s international students had laced up a pair of skates.
Niagara College president Dan Patterson and NCSAC president Ryan Huckla were on-hand to welcome students. “This is a great example of our students coming out, having a great time, getting to know one another, and enjoying the quintessentially Canadian activity of ice-skating,” said Patterson.
Students at the Welland Campus didn’t miss out on the fun – that campus saw students welcomed to a winter wonderland on Jan. 11, complete with music, food, fire pits and Instagram-worthy photo spots in the Courtyard.
The start of the Winter 2019 term saw a record number of students studying at NC. More than 11,000 students are projected to study at Niagara College this term, with over 2,000 of those starting their first term of studies.
