The Welland Tribune / St. Catharines Standard/Niagara Falls Review featured an article about federal minister Patty Hajdu’s visit to Welland, which involved Niagara College.
The minister of employment, workforce development and labour announced $8 million in funding to help Indigenous youths gain skills and training, including $3 million for the Niagara Peninsula Aboriginal Area Management Board’s Journey to Success project which focuses on essential skills in the workplace for Indigenous youth. The article explained how, in partnership with Niagara College, the project will offer 112 Indigenous learners an in-classroom opportunity to learn key cultural competencies, and essential and employability skills, while also offering students paid work placements in high-demand sectors such as tourism, hospitality and building trades.
