Niagara College takes on three new global development projects in Latin America

Niagara College has been awarded three new contracts for global development projects as part of the Pacific Alliance (PA) program, a global development investment managed by Colleges and Institutes Canada that focuses on sustainable development and skills for employment in Latin America.

These contracts, which were awarded to the College this summer, are for a three-year period and are funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada.

The PA projects will be implemented in four Latin American countries including Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Niagara College will support three of the seven PA projects executed in Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Niagara College will be collaborating with Marine Institute of Memorial University, College of New Caledonia, Fanshawe College, Cegep Trois-Rivieres and Nova Scotia Community College as well as with local partners in each country.

"Through the efforts of our faculty and staff abroad, Niagara College continues to work towards making a positive impact in the lives of individuals and communities across the globe," said Sean Kennedy, vice-president, International, Niagara College.

The overall goal of the program is to enhance socio-economic opportunities for men and women in their local communities. Niagara College will be involved in supporting educational institutions in sectors such as electricity and energy efficiency (Chile), environmental sustainability (Colombia), as well as industrial mechanics and industrial electrical-mechanics (Mexico).
