Students in grades 7-11 in Niagara got a crash course in tackling challenges in their community. On Saturday, May 12, Niagara College hosted a 12-hour social empowerment hackathon, led by ncTakeOff, ihub and local teachers. The event kicked off Empowerment Matters, a movement to empower students to become active citizens who are engaged in their community.
The hackathon allowed students to select a social problem evident in their community and work together in groups to brainstorm solutions.
