An annual publication of student portfolios, Inception8 will be unveiled at the Photography Awards Show on April 27.

Student photographers will be on the other side of the camera lens on Friday, April 27 as Niagara College celebrates photography creativity at its eight annual Photography Awards Show.

Both the college community and the public are welcome to attend the event, which will be held at the Welland Campus. The show will begin at 7 p.m. in the Applied Institute Auditorium, followed by a print gallery reception in the Learning Commons.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to see quality work by today’s students who are tomorrow’s premier photographers,” said Stephen Dominick, professor and program coordinator for NC’s Photography program, School of Media Studies. “The work that will be on display is of the highest caliber.”

Several awards will be presented including Best of Show Trophy (sponsored by Bell Arte Camera), Associate Dean’s Award of Excellence, Premium Building Group Architectural Photography Award, Tym Hrycusko Memorial Trophy, Big Heart Award, and Portfolio of the Year (sponsored by Nikon Canada).

The ceremony will also feature the unveiling of Inception8 – a highly collectible annual publication of student portfolios.
