Bench to Go raises funds for Humboldt Broncos

Bench to Go is Humboldt strong!

Bench to Go, based at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, will be donating 100% of all treat sales and $1 from every hot entrée sold to the Humboldt Broncos via the team’s Go Fund Me page. A donation jar is also on site for guests who wish to contribute.

Benchmark Restaurant manager of dining operations Sarah Scott noted that the entire Benchmark team and students are involved with the initiative.

“Benchmark and Bench To Go wanted to find a successful way to support this community, and we pulled together some coloured donuts, cookies and treats with 100% of the proceeds going back to their community, as well as $1 from all of our hot entrées,” said Scott.  “It is so important to support a small town community, and it is really amazing to see the outpouring of love and support from around the world. This is our small part in giving back.”

The fundraiser will be held at Bench to Go until April 13.

The sad news of the tragedy which took place in Saskatchewan on April 6 has been impacting residents across Canada and around the world, after a bus carrying players of the Humboldt Broncos Junior Hockey League team was struck by a semi-trailer truck, killing 15 people and injuring 14, with many in critical condition. Niagara College’s flags were lowered to half staff on April 9 in memory of the victims.
