NC’s Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership was proud to shine the light on some of the College’s student leaders on March 28 at the fourth annual Niagara College Volunteer and Leadership Awards (NCVLAs)
The event included an awards ceremony to recognize the hard work and dedication of many students involved in campus and community engagement, volunteerism and leadership development initiatives across all areas of campus life.
“NCVLA awards aim to reward the high level of student leadership and involvement in all areas of campus life, and highlight the importance of engagement at leadership at the College by publicly acknowledging students who have dedicated their time to building their co-curricular record through getting involved and volunteering both on and off campus,” said Lesley Calvin, associate director, Student Engagement, Academic Advising and Career Services,
Calvin noted that there were many surprises and smiling faces as the awards were announced. She also noted that throughout the evening there were touching #myNCstories shared by two CICE students as to what getting involved at Niagara College has helped them achieve through experiences gained in their program, outside of the classroom and through to their personal life.
In total there were more than 30 categories with double that in nominees. President Dan Patterson as well as CSEL staff, deans, associate deans attended the event and presented the awards.
