As the province-wide strike comes to an end and we welcome our faculty back, I want to share an important message with you for the days and weeks ahead.
While the last five weeks has been a challenging time for all of us, we all recognize that it has also been a period of significant uncertainty and disruption for our students.
The rallying point for all of us as we move forward is our shared commitment to maintaining a college community that is focused on teaching and learning, and providing students with the support, information and resources that they need to succeed.
As we implement plans that will allow our students to complete their semesters and continue their journey toward graduation, we have adjusted our fall term schedule. Classes will run until December 22, and then from January 2-10. We have also provided important online information, including FAQs regarding schedules, academic plans and other important items for students at www.niagaracollege.ca/backtoschool. Please provide students with informed responses where you can, and refer them to the appropriate department or online resources for additional information.
There will be time in the coming weeks to discuss the issues raised during labour negotiations. Over the short term, we need to focus our efforts on providing support for our students.
I know that we are all proud of the work that we do at Niagara College, and that we will rise to the challenges in the days ahead.
