Niagara College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute will be in the spotlight as part of Niagara’s International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration – known as ‘i4c.’

The CFWI is not only a major sponsor of i4c – which will take place the weekend of July 21 to 23 – dean Craig Youdale sits on the board of directors for the event.

“As sponsor and supporter of the event, I am happy to connect with our local industry and support one of the region’s most significant wine events,” said Youdale. “This event brings over 2,000 people along with significant economic impact to our region as they enjoy the three-day celebration.”

Youdale along with Benchmark chef manager Alex White will be part of the Niagara chef team presenting dinner at one of the weekend’s signature events: the Cool Chardonnay World Tour at Ridley College on July 22.

They will work with chef Paul Harber of Ravine Vineyard Restaurant and a dream team of the region’s top vineyard chefs to create a family-style menu showcasing a world tour of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Gamay.  Youdale and White will present the meal with one of six dishes for the 900 guests.

This year, Youdale and White will have help from the Saputo National Culinary Exchange – a group of eight young chefs from across Canada who were chosen to represent their part of the country in Niagara during the week that coincides with i4c. The Saputo National Culinary Exchange will be the kitchen team for the signature dinner.

This will be the third year the CFWI has been involved with coordinating the Chardonnay World Tour Tasting and Dinner. Youdale noted that the CFWI also supports the event with help in equipment, dishwashing, storage and the use of the College’s parking facilities.

The College is also a beer sponsor of the event through CFWI.

Guests to the dinner event (6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.)  Tickets are $150

The NC Teaching Winery is also a part of the i4c festivities, with its i4c Grand Cru Experience Weekend Package at the NOTL Campus has been sold out. The package offered an ultimate i4c experience with a Chardonnay camp feel, as visitors were invited to sip their way through three signature events (Flights of Chardonnay, Cool Chardonnay World Tour and a choice of brunch on the bench or the Movable feast).
