While Recreation Therapy students are helping to make wishes come true for Niagara’s long-term care residents, a group of Recreation and Leisure Services are also working behind the scenes to make them happen.
A Christmas social event is in the works to support Niagara College’s Second Wind Dreams project. Make a Wish Come True for Second Wind Dreams will be held on November 26 (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Welland. Guests will have an opportunity to visit with Santa, as well as enjoy live musical entertainment, food, coffee/tea, games and door prizes.
Tickets to the event are $20 for 12 years and older, $5 for children (free admission for children two years and younger). Tickets will be available for purchase in advance or at the door.
The event is a fundraiser for NC’s Second Wind Dreams project, which involves Recreation Therapy students organize custom experiences that grant wishes for residents in Niagara’s long-term care facilities. Niagara College has been participating in Second Wind Dreams – an international non-profit organization that grants dreams to people living in elder-care communities or in hospice care – for the past four years.
RLS students organizing the fundraiser as part of their Fundraising and Revenue Generation Class.
