Get involved

Looking for a little inspiration? CSEL has some RAK Day activities planned for you! Stop by the CSEL offices (L20 in Welland, W115 in NOTL) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the following activities:

Write a thank-you card: Blank thank-you cards will be available. Write a nice message and give it to someone that you haven’t had a chance to thank.

Kindness post-its: Share a kind message on a post-it note and pass it on, or stick it to the board so others can read it. Enjoy the awesome feeling that comes with reading something nice that someone else wrote.

Pop-up book exchange: Bring some books that you no longer want and donate them to the book exchange. Then, browse the selection and take a new one home. Books can be dropped off throughout the week at each CSEL office. Any leftover books will be donated to a local charity.

Plinko board (Welland only): The Plinko board will be out for students to win some fun little prizes and the CSEL will encourage them to pass them on instead of keeping them.

Raking leaves: The College has partnered with the Community Support Services of Niagara to help rake leaves for elderly clients that live near the Welland Campus. Those interested in raking, are asked to contact Dana Brown ( as soon as possible.

Cut-a-thon: The College Community is also encouraged to attend a Cut-a-thon happening at the NOTL Campus that day! NC Hairstyling students will be offering haircuts/styles for a $10 donation, with proceeds going to the NC Cares in a United Way campaign.

RAKs: The possibilities for Random Acts of Kindness are unlimited! Pay for someone’s coffee, hold the door open for the person behind you, say thank you to your bus driver, and so much more.

About RAK Day

RAK Day, which is an initiative of the Niagara Community Foundation, is a day for all residents of Niagara to embrace the spirit of kindness.

“Every day is a great day to show kindness to others, but it’s important to have a day where we shine a light on the kindness we see all the time here in Niagara,” says Niagara Community Foundation Executive Director Bryan Rose.
“Niagara has always been a caring and generous community. People here understand that even a little act of kindness can make someone’s day feel better, and that’s something worth celebrating,” Rose says.

The RAK Day initiative is also being supported by the District School Board of Niagara, the Niagara Catholic District School Board, and Niagara Regional Police, the Niagara IceDogs, Niagara River Lions, YMCA of Niagara, and the Outlet Collection at Niagara, and Brock University.
