Staff changes in School of Academic and Liberal Studies

A message from Fiona Allan, dean of Academic and Liberal Studies:

Please join me in welcoming Megan Swinimer and Kathryn Leistner to the School of Academic and Liberal Studies. 

Megan Swinimer is the new administrative assistant to the dean of Academic and Liberal Studies.

Megan began her role as administrative assistant to the dean, ALS, on June 27 and is located in E102. Megan first started with Niagara College as a co-op student in the vice president, Academic and Learner Services office. She then worked for the dean’s office providing support to projects, such as Enhanced Language Training for Employment (ELTE) and the School College Work Initiative (SCWI) in the School of Access. Megan has spent the last year as the assistant to the associate dean, Academic Studies at the Welland Campus.

Megan is a graduate of several Niagara College programs including, Office Administration – Executive, Environmental Field and Laboratory Technician program and Ecosystem Restoration. Prior to working with Niagara College, she worked in the tourism industry.

Kathryn Leistner is taking on a temporary role as academic business manager in the School of Academic and Liberal Studies.

Also on June 27, Kathryn joined us filling the role of academic business manager while Lucia Szeplaki takes a temporary secondment in Human Resources. Kathryn worked a variety of roles at the College from 2007 to 2012  in co-op, projects and academic advising. She returns to us from her role as HR manager in a busy local manufacturing company with factories in both Canada and the U.S.A. 

Kathryn is a graduate of both Brock and McMaster universities, in Human Resources and Adult Education.
