NC retirement will mean more ‘lights, camera, action’ for actor Martin Doyle

Martin Doyle, coordinator of the College’s Acting for Film and Television program, is retiring at the end of June.
A message from Linda Roote, associate dean, School of Media Studies

The lure of the ‘bright lights’ is calling Martin Doyle back to his first love (after his wife, Judi) – acting. Martin is retiring from his position as coordinator of the Acting for Film and Television program at Niagara College, effective June 30, to pursue acting roles and to chase after his grandchildren, Kennedy and Charlotte.

He has already been cast in an episode of CBC’s Schitt’s Creek opposite Catherine O’Hara and Chris Elliott. No doubt there will be other roles to follow and we will see him on both the small screen and the big screen in the near future (maybe even on the stage with his son, Colin); to say nothing of re-runs of shows that he has done in Canada and the U.S. over the past 40+ years.

So ‘retirement’ is not really retirement but rather ‘new beginnings’ where he hopes to cross paths on television and film sets with the many talented actors who have already graduated from NC’s formidable Acting for Film and Television program.

The School of Media Studies is very proud of what Martin and his colleagues have accomplished in the past nine years. He leaves a unique and well respected program that has embraced significant collaborations with BRTF, Police Foundations, Digital Photography and Game Development.

We will miss Martin’s candour and deep commitment to acting students’ success. We wish him much success in the future.
