Niagara College is committed to equipping all employees with the basic tools to effectively intervene and support students, co-workers, and members of the community who are experiencing mental health problems.
The Centre for Organizational Excellence is offering college employees the opportunity to register for a two-day certification program for Mental Health First Aid with Certified MHFA Canada instructors Jennifer Babin and Penny McKee. Those who attend this MHFA Certification program can expect to:
* Improve their understanding of mental illness;
*Minimize the fear and hesitation to become involved when they think someone is experiencing a mental health problem; and
* Develop simple and effective intervention strategies that are relevant to their role at the College.
A session will be available at the Welland Campus as well as the Niagara on the Lake Campus.
