School of Technology welcomes new associate dean

Erin Stitt CavanaghI am very pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Stitt-Cavanagh as associate dean – School of Technology effective May 9, 2016.

Erin comes to us from Algonquin College where she has been a professor in the Applied Science & Environmental Technology Department since 2009. Erin has experience in curriculum design, development and delivery, and in 2012 led the development of a graduate certificate in Environmental Management and Assessment. The program was successfully launched in 2013 and Erin served as its first coordinator. Besides teaching Erin has been serving as chair of the Retention Task Force for the Faculty of Technology and Trades. In this role she has been working with faculty and staff to develop and implement retention strategies to enhance student success. In terms of program quality, Erin has chaired two accreditation site visits for ECO Canada’s Environmental Professional (EP) Certification.

Erin has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine, both from the University of Ottawa. Erin has also completed Algonquin’s Leadership in Education Institute Level I. A committed lifelong learner Erin is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Queen’s University.

Erin finds time to get involved in her community and is currently serving as a director on the Arnprior Regional Health Board. I am very confident that Erin’s diverse background, her work on student success initiatives and her collaborative style will greatly benefit the School of Technology.
