A message from the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership:
As an element of the Orientation and Transition Support programming, the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership has launched a soft pilot of The First Year Experience Framework.
This online tool aims to help better prepare students for their college experience here at Niagara College by walking them through the services, steps and operations needed to succeed. In addition to supporting the transition into college life, the FYE framework also includes steps that support students through and out of college.
Students have the choice between multiple workshops, events and volunteer opportunities that are meaningful and impactful to them. All of these experiences will be tracked through the CCR database and go towards receiving their FYE Completion badge and onto their CCR.
Students can participate in the curriculum through the Co-Curricular Get Involved portal. They can visit the First Year Experience organization page on the portal or visit niagaracollege.ca/fye to learn more. Every first-year student has been automatically uploaded into the FYE Curriculum. They can click on the Curriculum tab and their progress can be seen there, along with the requirements for each badge.
Lastly, as mentioned above, students will have the opportunity to attend multiple workshops in order to complete certain steps in the curriculum. A master workshop timeline was created for students to know right from the start of term what is available to them.
