The event is an important gathering of curriculum and faculty development experts as well as academic quality professionals from across Ontario institutions. The networking, resource sharing, and collaborative initiatives that emerge from COED meetings have significant impacts on faculty and student experiences across postsecondary institutions.
This annual meeting of COED also marks the start the transition in the role of chair on the executive of this provincial university and college council. Two members of Niagara College’s administrative staff, Mary Wilson, PhD, NC’s director of Academic Excellence, and Natasha Hannon, PhD, NC’s manager of Educational Development, will transition for their current roles as incoming COED co-chairs, to the roles of COED co-chairs beginning November 13. During the 2016-2017 academic year, they will continue to serve on the executive of COED for one more year as past co-chairs.
This will be the first time that COED is being hosted at an Ontario college and Wilson and Hannon feel that it represents an exciting opportunity to showcase our institutional strengths in applied, experiential teaching, learning and research. “This will be the first time that many of the participating colleagues will have been to Niagara College,” said Hannon. “They will be anxious to explore our facilities and our unique learning spaces.”
