U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce Heyman visited Niagara College’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus on May 15, 2015. Ambassador Heyman was accompanied by his wife Vicki Heyman and U.S. Consul General Jim Dickmeyer.
The ambassador was welcomed by Niagara College president Dan Patterson, NC Board of Governors chair Allan Schmidt, and NC Student Administrative Council president Shane Malcolm. He spoke to students as well as various staff and faculty members during a morning tour of the campus.
His tour began at the Wine Visitor + Education Centre where he viewed the on-campus teaching vineyards as well as the College’s Teaching Winery. He visited the NC Teaching Brewery where he was presented with the Teaching Brewery’s award-winning Butler’s Bitter beer, created in recognition of 200-year anniversary of the War of 1812. Ambassador Heyman also toured culinary labs at the College’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute, and viewed presentations about advanced manufacturing and food innovation programs at the College.
