This year marks a special milestone for an important event in Niagara and one that is close to the hearts of so many of us at Niagara College: the Rankin Cancer Run.
Saturday, May 23 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Rankin Cancer Run which has raised more than $4.6 million during the past nine years. The annual event supports cancer-based supports and services right here in the Niagara region. One of the most notable aspects of this event is that every dollar raised stays in the Niagara community.
I’m tremendously proud of Niagara College’s long-time involvement with Rankin Cancer Run. For many years, Niagara College has been very well represented at the event. Senior administration, staff, faculty, students and retirees as well as their family and friends join together as a team to participate. Last year, our NC team was 100 members strong and we raised more than $4,000.
I know firsthand how rewarding it is to participate in this event which that draws thousands of people every year – 12,000 last year alone. One can’t help but be impacted by the extraordinary sense of community that comes from so many people joining together for such a worthy cause.
Let’s show our NC spirit and make the 10th anniversary of the Rankin Cancer Run even better than ever. I strongly encourage our staff, faculty and students to join our Niagara College Rankin Run team. You don’t need to be a runner to participate in the five-kilometer event – most people walk the distance. It’s an experience that the entire family is welcome to attend. Register by May 8 to ensure you are part of our Niagara College t-shirt order.
