Important notice: on-campus printing and copying

Xerox multifunction printers or MFPs, commonly referred to as photocopiers are being replaced throughout the college with new Xerox models, updated software and new functionality. The upgrade and delivery schedule spans Monday December 15th through Tuesday December 23rd and tentative delivery dates will be shared with the key operators within the functional areas. This has been scheduled in a less busy time to minimize disruption to students and staff. For more information on the MFP key operators in your area, please contact Shelley Calnan, ITS Office Coordinator by emailing [email protected] or calling x7845.

With this upgrade, Xerox MFPs will now offer a full range of functionality for students and staff, including:

  • Copy
  • Print Release
  • Email (free)
  • Scan to network drive (free)
  • Scan to USB (free)

Students and staff will use their Niagara College ID card to login at the MFP. If you do not have your card, you may also login using your network username and password (same as your Blackboard username). Staff PINs have been eliminated for authentication. Staff will continue to print to MFPs directly using named print queues with follow-you printing a future option. Follow-you printing sends your print job to a virtual queue which you can access and print on any compatible device.

Coin operated copiers are no longer being used. Students will now use their student card/account for copying in the same way they use the print system. Students may continue adding value on their card/account by using the payment stations at the locations below:

Welland Campus

Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus

Learning Commons

N202 Open Access Lab

SE182 Open Access Lab

outside Enrolment Services office (Registrar)

Please note the payment stations accept cash only and no change is provided. A new option allowing a student to transfer a balance to another student will be made available in the future as well as a web payment option.

This upgrade will also change the way print release stations function for student printers, i.e. printers in classrooms, labs or the library. You can now use web print release which gives you the ability to release your print job from a smartphone, tablet or computer on campus.

Further information regarding this upgrade for students and staff is available online.
