I’m pleased to announce that on Saturday, November 29 we will invite prospective students, their families and the community to experience Niagara College through a new fall event called “Doors Open.”
In addition to showcasing Niagara College and the work that we do, Doors Open is a welcome addition to our important fall recruitment cycle. It’s an opportunity for prospective students to see our programs and services up close, meet faculty and staff, and experience interactive exhibits and displays that capture the essence of applied education.
As I discussed in a college update earlier this fall, our student population is changing. While we’re seeing significant growth and diversification in our international enrolments, we’re feeling the effects of changing demographics and increased postsecondary competition domestically. Doors Open is among the new marketing and recruitment initiatives that we’ve put in place to ensure that we continue to grow within this changing landscape – along with an added emphasis on online and video marketing initiatives, and the development of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
I was very impressed with how we showcased our programs at the recent College Information Fair event in Welland – the participation of faculty, staff and students, and the emphasis on the hands-on experience really supports the notion that we are all ambassadors and recruiters for Niagara College, and that all of us have a role to play in telling the NC story. It is through these types of college-wide collaborative efforts that we will position ourselves for growth in a more competitive postsecondary environment. I know that planning for Doors Open is now well underway, and I look forward to seeing once again the interesting exhibits and demonstrations that each program area will execute.
Let’s put our best foot forward on November 29, and tell the NC story: that we provide an unparalleled student experience, and that a hands-on Niagara College education sets our graduates apart in the world of work.
Please be sure to spread the word, and invite any family, friends or neighbours who may be considering postsecondary education – this is a great opportunity for us to showcase NC.
