Background

In 2012, The College’s School of Environmental and Horticultural study hosted its first annual Edward Hoekstra Winter Classic ball hockey fundraiser. Their goal is to raise funds to support a student bursary in memory of faculty member Mike Hoekstra’s father Eddie Hoekstra who passed away in November 2011. Hoekstra was a professional hockey player who played for the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1960s.

Last year, organizers put a new spin on the annual fundraiser by launching the dodgeball tournament.
