Annual SickPix Photography Competition to be held March 21

SickPix is an annual photography competition for students in the Digital Photography Program.

It is mandatory for each student to submit at least three photographs to categories that include portraiture, still life, street, commercial and fine art photography with an optional Photoshop category.

A panel of judges which in the past has included photography and graphic design professors from Niagara, Fanshawe and Sheridan, internationally renowned Toronto photographer V. Tony Hauser, Nikon technical representative Mark Cruz, Henry’s professional services manager David White, and Andre Souroujon president of Pikto Inc. are provided with the images and independently select the winners.

An awards night is hosted by the Digital Photography program faculty and SickPix Student Committee in the Niagara College’s AHI Auditorium. All submissions are screened and the winners are announced and presented with prizes.

The top prize for Best of Show Year 2 Print is a studio lighting kit valued at $1,200 and is generously donated each year by Henry’s Camera.

The winning entries are printed and displayed at the Digital  Photography Program End-of-Year Show and posted to the Digital Photography website.

The SickPix Awards Night is being held on Friday, March 21, 2014 beginning at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Admission is free.
