Beer celebrated victory over Team Wine at the Canadian Food and Wine Institute Feb. 6.
When it came to the preferred beverage pairings for each course at the CFWI’s Caps, Corks and Forks event, the team made up of students from the College’s Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program, won the hearts and palates of dinner guests.
The Feb. 6 event was the sixth round for Caps, Corks and Forks since it was launched in 2012. Each event is an ongoing battle between the college’s beer and wine students as the teams strive to present the best pairing to each dinner course, prepared by the college’s culinary students. Guests vote for their preferred pairing after each course with either a cap or a cork.
Team Beer’s latest win has ties the overall score for the College’s beer and wine teams; with three overall victories for Team Beer and three for Team Wine.
Team Beer included Mike Beaupre, Ryan Hethrington, Brendan Kiefer, Christine Nagy, Doug Steele and Jeff Wiebe.
Team wine included Lucan Sutherland, Gabriella Yangyi, Amanda Levy, Stephanie Byers, Christian Scagenetti and Grayson Riordon.
The event was hosted by chefs Anna and Michael Olson.
