Representatives from United Way of South Niagara were in attendance at the Welland Campus on January 15 to receive a cheque for $38,830. The funds were raised by Niagara College staff and faculty through the employee campaign, which launched at Niagara Day on August 28, 2013 and closed on December 20, 2013.
The United Way Campaign Committee, co-chaired by Matthew Davies and Vivian Kinnaird, set a target of $35,000; the largest United Way fundraising goal the Niagara College employee campaign has ever set. Thanks to the support and generosity of the Niagara College community, this goal was exceeded, achieving 111% of target, making the 2013 United Way campaign the most successful in the college’s history.
Funds raised are spent locally in the Niagara region to support agencies, programs, and services for needy families and individuals.
Niagara College is proud of its ongoing connection to the United Way of South Niagara, and was pleased to host Tamara Coleman-Lawrie, executive director; and Deanna Pope, campaign associate; for a cheque presentation ceremony in the Applied Health Institute.
