Niagara College is hosting a speaker event featuring one of the most prominent defence lawyers in Canada; and students, staff and the public will all have an opportunity to attend.
On September 18, criminal defence lawyer Edward Greenspan will be in the spotlight at Niagara College’s Welland Campus, speaking about the role of the criminal lawyer in the Canadian justice system.
“It’s an honour to welcome Edward Greenspan to Niagara College. This event presents a unique opportunity for our students and the community to hear from one of the most recognized criminal defence lawyers in the country,” said David Veres, dean of NC’s Community and Health Studies Division.
The distinguished speaker event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Greenspan is scheduled to speak for about 45 minutes, followed by a question and answer period.
The event, to be held in the Applied Health Institute auditorium, is free of charge. Seating is limited and seats must be reserved in advance.

About Edward Greenspan
Edward L. Greenspan, Q.C., L.L.D, D.C.L, is the senior partner of the Toronto law firm Greenspan Partners LLP. He has been practicing in Toronto since 1970 and received his Queen’s Counsel in 1982. He is the author of Greenspan: The Case for the Defence, a best selling autobiography co-authored by George Jonas. He taught criminal law at the University of Toronto Law School for approximately 28 years. In 1999, he received an honourary Doctorate of Laws from the Law Society of Upper Canada and in 2002, he received an honourary Doctorate of Civil Law from the University of Windsor. In 2004, he received an honourary Doctorate of Laws from Assumption University. Mr. Greenspan was awarded the G. Arthur Martin Medal for outstanding contribution to Canadian criminal law in 2001.
