The Blanket Exercise

March 27, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the “Blanket Exercise,” which is an experiential teaching tool by KAIROS that helps participants understand the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. It teaches a history of Canada that most people never learn. Developed in response to the 1996 Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples—which recommended education on Canadian-Indigenous history as one of the key steps to reconciliation, the Blanket Exercise covers over 500 years of history in a two hour participatory workshop.
Date: Monday, March 27 at 5:30-7:30 PM in Room M114 (Welland Campus)
Offered in partnership with the LEAD program via the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership.
