Remembrance Day

November 11, 2024 @ 11:00 am

Niagara College will observe Remembrance Day on Monday, November 11, to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women of our armed forces throughout history.
College flags will be lowered, and a short service will take place over the public address system at both campuses at 11 a.m. The service will begin with the playing of “The Last Post,” followed by a reading of John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields” and one minute of silence.
Those working or learning remotely are also encouraged to pause at this time to join colleagues and students participating in this important service of remembrance, acknowledging the people who have served, and continue to serve, Canada during times of conflict and peace.
Faculty and students from the Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program have partnered with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 613 in Fonthill to livestream the Legion’s Remembrance Day service on Saturday, beginning at 10:45 a.m. Those who wish to view the livestream service can do so via this link.
Several community ceremonies will occur on November 11, and we encourage all members of the NC community to attend if able. Services will begin at 10:45 a.m., and we recommend arriving at 10:30 a.m. or earlier to ensure parking availability at each location.
