On April 10, wear pink and get your Coffee for a Cause at The Shack and The Undergrounds.

International Day of Pink Day is recognized globally as a day to stand in solidarity and allyship with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities against homophobic hate and violence. We invite NC students, staff, and faculty to wear pink on Wednesday April 10 to show their support for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

Initiated in 2007 in Nova Scotia where high school students wore pink in support of a classmate and member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who was being bullied for wearing the colour. The day is recognized to promote anti-bullying, anti-homophobia and acceptance, diversity, and inclusion for all. Students, staff, and faculty at NC are encouraged to wear pink on Wednesday to show their support for treating everyone with respect and kindness.

This year’s theme of International Day of Pink is Visibility! Celebrating visibility in all it’s forms, being seen, acknowledged respected and listened to.

The theme also marks three milestones, the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Trans flag, the 50th anniversary of the Brunswick four and the depathologization of homosexuality in Canada. Learn more about International Day of Pink and this year’s theme.

Join us and show your support by wearing pink and taking a stand against bullying. Together, let’s create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Coffee for a Cause

In honour of International Day of Pink, the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC) is back with Coffee for a Cause on Wednesday April 10.

One hundred per cent of sales from the purchase of coffee and teas at The Shack (Welland Campus) and The Undergrounds (Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake) will go towards International Day of Pink, a not-for-profit organization focused on creating awareness and change through education and developing initiatives that support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across Canada. Learn more about the work of the organization here.

Mark your calendar and get your coffee for a great cause!
