Module 1 – Introduction to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion:
Niagara College is committed to ensuring an equitable, diverse, and inclusive learning and work environment. But what does this mean in practice? This learning series will provide you with a foundational understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion that will support you in identifying how you can contribute to this work in your role at NC.
Join us in this introductory session to learn how to:
- Define common terms, including equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Distinguish between intent and impact-focused approaches to EDI
- Situate personal social location and experience in relation to power & privilege
- Identify ways to enact equity and inclusion in your daily work practices
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Learning Series is a four-module series where you will gain a foundational understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Each module will introduce common terms and concepts and provide participants with the opportunity to enhance their learning through interactive activities and complimentary learning material to further their learning following the sessions.
*Please note it is recommended that participants attend Module 1 before attending any of the other EDI modules.
This interactive session will provide participants with the opportunity to join the sessions in a hybrid format either virtually or in-person.
