I came to Niagara College directly from high school. I have cerebral palsy, which has taught me determination, resilience, and the importance of never giving up. Throughout my time at Niagara College, I have challenged myself to learn new skills, get involved on campus, and build meaningful connections. My experiences have helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in my community.

My favourite Niagara College memory was attending the Grape and Wine Parade. It was a fun event that brought students together and gave me the chance to celebrate the Niagara community while making great memories with friends.

Get involved! Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, ask for help when you need it, and take advantage of the support and opportunities available on campus. Everyone's journey is different, and getting involved is one of the best ways to make the most of your college experience.
I am currently finishing my 3rd term in Practical Nursing. Besides class, I am involved in school as a Peer Tutor for my previous biology courses, and a Student Representative for my current term of study. I enjoy drawing and listening to video essays in my free time.

Waiting for the bus inside the main entrance last winter and seeing a big deer run head-first smack into a glass door in the Merritt building. After leaping the corner of the tree planting bed right in front of that door, the deer bounced back and ran the way it had come: I still wonder what had scared it!

During my first program at Niagara College, I had the opportunity to tour the Niagara College Teaching Winery, and it was an insightful and enjoyable experience. Walking through the vineyards, exploring the production facilities, and learning about the winemaking process gave me a new appreciation for the college's hands-on approach to learning. What makes my time at NC even more memorable were the friendships I built through group projects and presentations. Those shared experiences made learning enjoyable and reminded me that some of the best memories in college are created alongside the people you meet.

Starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming but remember ~ you don't have to have everything figured out on day one. Be curious, ask questions, and say yes to new opportunities. Join a club, volunteer, speak up in class, or introduce yourself to someone new. Sometimes the smallest step outside your comfort zone leads to the biggest opportunities, lifelong friendships, and experiences you'll never forget. The orientation day is a great memory for me; this is where I met two amazing friends. Being mature students we connected and bonded. In the next few days, we met several more students and now have a study group of nearly 10 people. This makes learning the course work so much easier!

My advice for new students is to go out there and participate in school events. Enjoy your academic process and save some time to have fun and explore the area Always reach out if things aren’t going well for you. You are not the only one who could need some support. Start a club, meet new people and always keep a solid connection with your loved ones.

I still get a good feeling when I think about that night my team and I were coming back from the soccer game against Humber College. Everyone was singing and dancing inside the bus. And it was a good trip.
I also enjoyed volunteering for orientation. Lots of fun/games and made so many new friends.

One of my favourite memories at Niagara College was going to Canada's Wonderland with the EAP students. It was my first time trying several roller coasters, and although I was terrified at first, the experience was both exhilarating and unforgettable. It helped me overcome my fear of heights and step outside my comfort zone.
