Description:

This course equips students with the knowledge and skills to use research to inform practice and to engage in community development that advances social and economic justice. Students examine qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g., interviews, focus groups, surveys, observation) through anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and Indigenous practice principles. They learn how to translate evidence into accessible, responsive programs and services and to conduct community studies and needs assessments. The course culminates in a community-driven project in which students propose a program and prepare a fundable grant proposal.
