Sport has the power to unite a nation or stop a war. Its influence is transformational, far reaching, and often considered a social phenomenon. In this course, you will study the relevance of sport in society. Topics will include (but are not limited to) the effect of sport on society, sport for development, social responsibility, globalization, inequality, and deviance. You can expect to gain an appreciation for considering the sociological role of sport in society and its application in the field of sport management.
