Description:

In this course, you will be provided with an overview of the philosophies and trends in the provision of therapeutic recreation services for persons with diverse abilities. Additionally, you will gain awareness and develop skills related to advocacy, empowerment, and inclusion with respect to the strengths and needs of individuals with diverse abilities. Emphasis will be placed on identifying capabilities, limitations and characteristics of various disabilities/diagnosis/groups in connection to the 5 health domains (cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual), and the resulting implication for meaningful participation in recreation and leisure.
