In this course, you will receive an overview of the philosophies and trends in the provision of therapeutic recreation services for individuals with diverse abilities. Additionally, you will gain awareness and develop skills related to advocacy, empowerment, and inclusion with respect to the strengths and needs of individuals with diverse abilities. Emphasis will be placed on identifying the capabilities, limitations, and characteristics of various disabilities/diagnoses/groups across the five health domains (cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual), and the implications for meaningful participation in recreation and leisure.
