Description:

The efficiency, productivity, and profitability of any enterprise are directly correlated with the efficiency of the workstation, process layout, and material-handling systems. In this course, you will be introduced to the importance of a systemic approach to the design of manufacturing facilities and material handling. A hands-on, project-oriented approach will be used to explore the techniques and procedures for developing an efficient layout. You will explore how plant layout can increase productivity and reduce waste in facilities through Lean manufacturing techniques. In creating a functional design, relevant data will be collected, analyzed, and used to develop the design.

Prerequisites for this course

    • MECH1211 - Manufacturing Processes I AND
    • CAPT1278 - Computer Aided Drafting AND
    • CAPT1139 - Computer Applications
