This advanced field placement builds upon students' understanding of the role of the ECE-RC, integrating theory with practical experience in supporting children with special needs and families. As part of a multidisciplinary team, students adhere to regulations, agency policies, and professional standards. Students support family-centred strategies to help families navigate potential supports and services, providing recommendations to promote the healthy development of children with special needs. They employ reciprocal communication and evidence-informed practices to coordinate and facilitate case management meetings, educational opportunities, and referral discussions. Through reflection on their practices, students identify strengths and areas for improvement. This placement emphasizes active collaboration, critical thinking, and professionalism to prepare students for effective and ethical resource consulting roles.
