This course will explore the theory of lasers and their practical applications in laser technology. Specific topics include the calculation of reabsorption loss, characterization of pump laser diodes, and the application of these parameters to predict output power and required pump power. A lab component enables students to examine and verify various laser characteristics, as well as participate in the integration of laser technology into a system.
