Description:

The theory of lasers and practical applications of laser technology will be explored in this course. Specific topics include calculation of re-absorption loss, characterization of pump laser diodes, and application of these parameters to predict output power and required pump power. A lab component allows students to examine and verify various laser characteristics and participate in the integration of laser technology into a system.
