This course identifies the criteria demanded in the field of professional portraiture and outlines its various applications in electronic media. Students will distinguish between amateur and professional, industry-recognized standards for lighting patterns, staging, posing, and print outputs in photographic portraits. The use of ambient light, camera flash, and studio light-bank strobes to create professional-grade portraits, both in the studio and on location, will be examined. The course will also introduce strategies to help the photographer identify and meet individual clients' expectations.
