Description:

In this course you will learn to intervene in conflict and crisis situations. You will examine the conflict situation from its inception through intervention. You will explore various problem solving skills and non-violent intervention techniques. You will examine the use of force model in policing and intervention strategies directed toward specific incidents that occur in policing. You will learn the behaviour patterns that may lead to violent encounters and the appropriate legal responses to these encounters with a focus on officer safety. This course has specific protocols relating to missed classes. Please refer to the program manual and Teaching and Learning Plan for full details.
