You will discuss the critical importance of communication in all aspects of palliative care, in particular with regard to care planning and informed decision making. You will develop skills, strategies and techniques to facilitate effective and empathetic communications with clients, families or loved ones, and colleagues which will assist in improving patient care. In addition, you will explore overcoming barriers to effective communication, one-on-one vs. group interaction, meeting the information needs of clients, their families or loved ones, and your role as client advocate.
