Description:

You will explore and study foundations and principles of palliative care. You will learn the fundamental principles of End-of-Life and Quality-of-Life as it affects the palliative patient and the family. You will reflect on your own attitude towards death as you gain knowledge throughout the course. Palliative symptoms and the identification and management of these will be learned through lectures and in class group work. Major end-of-life disease processes will be reviewed and the impact they have on the palliative process. You will learn the foundations of a palliative nursing assessment and the common documentation tools used in the process. Palliative care emergencies are reviewed along with group work on major malignancies.
