This course introduces the foundational principles, concepts, and techniques used by Industrial Engineers and Operations Management professionals to improve business processes, working conditions, productivity, and utilization. The course provides the scope of Industrial Engineering and uses the principles of motion and time study as a foundational application to subsequent concepts and techniques. Some of these techniques include Engineering Economics through cost analysis and overhead rate development, process balancing, lean principles, and work standardization methods. The course will provide students with the opportunity to practice these techniques to gain a thorough understanding of how these Industrial Engineering techniques supports organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement efforts.
