Description:

In this course you will learn about the biology of the grapevine plant and its environment. You will expand on the topics of Introduction to (Vine) Biology with emphasis on grapevine physiology. You will develop an awareness of the life cycle of the grapevine, its generative development, yield and quality correlation, grape ripening, as well as grapevine nutrition, interactions and antagonisms. You will review the water balance, frost resistance, photosynthesis and transport of assimilates within the grapevine plant. Laboratory and field exercises will provide hands-on experience and include selected experiments of grapevine physiology, and soil and tissue sampling and analysis.
